What is a Jiu Jitsu class like?
Here’s the most simplified answer:
1. Warm Up.
2. Learn techniques from the instructor.
3. Practice those techniques with a partner.
4. Roll (5 min rounds where you try Jiu Jitsu! It feels a lot like wrestling but with much different goals and rules.)
When do I need to show up for class?
5 mins before class starts is all you need.
You’ll sign in at the beginning of every class.
What’s the difference between BJJ and JJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Jiu Jitsu)
Short answer, in America, they are the same and can be used interchangeably. Traditionally, Jiu Jitsu comes from Japan, dating all the way back to the 1500’s. Jiu Jitsu was modified in Brazil in the 1920’s by the Gracie family, who later brought it to the USA in the 1970’s. Fun Fact: The UFC was co-founded by the Gracie family who wanted to showcase to the world the power of Jiu Jitsu.
